Storm damage in Manlius
Wind, hail or a limb hit your Manlius roof: find out what it did before calling it a new roof

After a storm on a Manlius roof, the first job is working out what the storm did and what was worn already. Say what you saw and when, and we book a roofer to look and write the estimate.
What we do
Describe the roof in a few lines, and an independent roofing contractor comes out to look at it, then prices the work for you in writing.
What we promise while you decide
- No charge from us, whether you book or not.
- The roofer's price comes to you on paper first.
- You may ask for a repair price beside the replacement one.
- Credit terms are spelled out on our Terms page.
Workmanship and contract terms belong to the roofer you hire.

Storm damage roofing in Manlius: the short answers
Should I call my insurer before I get a roofer to look?
You can do either first. Photograph the damage and write down the date, then read your policy for the deductible and for whether it pays on actual cash value or replacement cost. We do not handle claims, so ask your insurer how to file.
Is hail damage common in Manlius?
The federal record shows two dated hail reports at Manlius, 1.50 and 1.00 inch on May 10 2000. That is history and tells you nothing certain about your roof. If hail hit recently, a roofer can look for fresh bruising on the slopes.
How do I deal with a roofer who knocks on my door after a storm?
Take your time. Ask for a written estimate, check that the firm carries workers' compensation using the state's public search, and never pay a cash deposit before there is a written contract.
When does the $100 credit apply?
It applies to your first job once it is booked through us, one time per property. A request or an estimate on its own does not earn it.

What the record says about storms in Manlius, and what it does not
NOAA's storm database lists two hail reports at Manlius on May 10 2000, at 1.50 and 1.00 inch. The Town of Manlius annex of the county hazard plan records no unique wind or winter vulnerability.
That is a calm record, and it should make you wary of a salesperson who knocks after any storm and says the whole street was hit. It also means you do not need to assume your roof is untouched. County-wide, NOAA lists 343 thunderstorm wind events from 1996 through 2025 on 125 separate days, so a wind that lifts shingles can come to any roof here.

Sorting new storm damage from worn shingles on a Manlius roof
Housing in Manlius dates from about 1970 at the middle, so some roofs may be worn. Worn shingles may lift more easily in a wind than fresh ones. That does not make the damage any less real, but it changes what the roofer should price. A section repair may be right. A whole new roof may be too.
Ask the roofer to show you which damage is fresh. Fresh creases, torn tabs and clean bare spots point to the storm. Granule loss across the whole slope and curled edges point to age. You want both in the written estimate, in separate lines.
Photograph the roof, the ground and any ceiling stain with the date. Keep what you find. It is yours to show an adjuster if you decide to file.
Insurance and a Manlius storm repair: read your own policy first
We do not do claims and cannot say what your policy covers. The state's Department of Financial Services explains one thing worth knowing before you file: coverage can be actual cash value, which subtracts depreciation, or replacement cost. Its worked example uses a 15 year old roof with an assumed 25 year life, where actual cash value is $2,000 against a $5,000 repair.
The same guide says that filing several small claims within a short span can lead some carriers to see you as a higher risk. Your policy and your insurer decide how small claims are counted, so ask them. Whether to file is not something we advise on.
Tell-tales
Tell-tales that point toward storm damage roofing in Manlius
| What you see | What it may point to |
|---|---|
| Shingles on the lawn after a wind | Work out which slope they came from and photograph the bare spot. Wind damage tends to start at edges and ridges. |
| Round dents or bruised spots after hail | Hail leaves marks across a whole slope, not one spot. A roofer can tell fresh bruises from old wear. |
| A limb across the roof | Photograph the limb from the ground and stay away from it and any wires. What is under it matters more than the limb, so tell the roofer where it landed. |
| A ceiling stain that appeared right after the storm | Record the date and the weather. That helps separate storm damage from a leak that was already building. |
