Privacy Policy

This policy explains what this site collects when you send an enquiry about a roof, why it collects it, who it goes to and how long it is kept. It is written to be read.

What the enquiry form collects

The form asks for your name, your phone number, your email address, your ZIP code and a description of what the roof is doing. Only the name, the phone number and the ZIP code are required. Those three are the minimum a roofing contractor needs before they can tell you whether they can take the job and when they could look at it. The email address and the description are optional, though a description usually saves a phone call, because a photograph of a stain on a ceiling and a note about which winter it started tell a roofer more than a form field can.

The form also carries a hidden field, named website, that is invisible to a person using a browser and is never filled in by one. If a submission arrives with that field completed, it is treated as automated spam and discarded.

Why the ZIP code is required

Because in Onondaga County the address decides the job. The Onondaga County Clerk's roster lists 19 towns and 15 villages alongside the City of Syracuse, and each of them runs its own code office with its own answer on whether a roof needs a building permit. A village address never files with the town around it. The ZIP code is the first step in working out which office your property answers to and which contractors actually cover that ground. Without it an enquiry cannot be matched to anyone and would simply sit there, so the field is mandatory.

Who your details are shared with

Your enquiry reaches us by email. We use it to arrange the work described on this site, which means passing your name, your phone number, your ZIP code and what you told us about the roof to the roofing contractor or contractors we introduce you to. That contractor contracts with you directly. If the first one cannot reach your address, cannot take the work in the timeframe you need, or does not do the type of roof you have, your details may go to a second so that you are not left starting again.

We do not sell your details, we do not trade them, and we do not add you to mailing lists that have nothing to do with the enquiry you sent. We do not pass your details to an insurer, to a loss adjuster or to anyone offering to act on a claim for you.

How long it is kept

An enquiry is kept while it is useful to the job you asked about and to any follow up that comes out of it, and is then deleted. If you want yours deleted sooner, ask and it will be.

Cookies, fonts and logs

This site is built as static pages. It sets no advertising cookies and runs no third party tracking or profiling scripts. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google's font servers when a page loads. The web server keeps ordinary request logs in the usual way, which include IP addresses, for security and to work out what is broken.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. You can also tell any contractor you have been introduced to that you do not want to be contacted again, and that instruction stands by itself, whatever you have told us.

Telling us about a problem with this policy

Use the enquiry form and say your message is about privacy. It arrives in the same place and it will be answered.
